Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process

Manuscripts submitted to JITIPA (Jurnal Inovasi Tadris Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam) will undergo a rigorous selection and assessment process conducted by the Editorial Board to ensure their compliance with the journal’s writing guidelines, focus and scope, and academic quality standards. JITIPA implements a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept anonymous to ensure objectivity and fairness.

Desk Review

At the desk review stage, each submitted manuscript is examined by the Editorial Board to ensure that it meets the journal’s writing guidelines, focus and scope, and basic standards of scientific quality. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be returned to the author for revision or directly rejected. Only manuscripts that pass this stage will proceed to the peer review process.

Peer Review

Manuscripts that successfully pass the desk review stage are assigned to two independent reviewers who have expertise relevant to the manuscript’s subject area. The peer review process is conducted within approximately three weeks. Manuscripts that do not pass the desk review stage will not be sent to reviewers.

Reviewer’s Decision

Based on the evaluation results, reviewers will provide one of the following recommendations:

  • Accepted: the manuscript is acceptable for publication without revision;
  • Accepted with minor revisions: the manuscript is acceptable for publication after minor revisions in response to the reviewers’ comments;
  • Accepted with major revisions: the manuscript requires substantial revisions, such as improvements in data analysis, theoretical framework, methodology, or clarity of discussion;
  • Rejected: the manuscript is not acceptable for publication due to fundamental issues related to quality, originality, or relevance.

The reviewers’ recommendations will be considered by the Editorial Board in determining the next stage of the manuscript.

Revision Stage

Manuscripts that require minor or major revisions will be returned to the author along with reviewers’ comments. Authors are required to revise their manuscripts according to the recommendations provided:

  • Major revisions must be completed within three weeks;
  • Minor revisions must be completed within one week.

When submitting the revised manuscript, authors are required to provide a response to reviewers’ comments to demonstrate how the revisions have been addressed.

Final Decision

At this stage, the revised manuscript is re-evaluated by the Editorial Board to ensure that the author has adequately responded to the reviewers’ comments. The Editorial Board reserves the right to reject the manuscript if the revisions are not satisfactorily completed.

Proofreading

Once a manuscript has been accepted, it will undergo a proofreading process to ensure clarity, consistency, and linguistic quality before publication.

Publication Confirmation

The final layout of the manuscript will be sent to the author for confirmation. At this stage, authors may correct typographical or minor formatting errors. After receiving confirmation from the author, the manuscript will be processed for online publication in JITIPA.
